Let us introduce ourselves... Bianca and Raven.

We began our adventure into business together in October 2020 more by accident than design.

I (Raven) had quit my job with a non-government org in August 2019 after recognising that some kind of burnout was inevitable if I didn't find a place to explore my passions in ways that the 'system' simply couldn't provide. By September I had some private referrals as a sole trader. Twelve months later I had a wonderful client base, was time poor from having to run a team of support workers that weren't employed by me, and had a great idea or three about socially responsible services... if only the right business partners would come along!

During that time Bianca was slowly recovering from a workplace injury that happened in early 2019. A return to her former occupation was no longer possible - and nor was retraining. Bianca continued studying her Diploma in Mental Health and graduated during this period, but her future career was still a big unknown for her.

In late October 2020 I put an idea to Bianca and another friend; starting an unregistered NDIS service provider company for my existing client base who were encouraging me to create something meaningful that would put people before profit.

After a meeting with a new (and wonderful) accountant on the 26th of that month, shiny things (edu) p/l was born. But Bianca wasn't quite there. She declined the opportunity to become a Director and Shareholder that day... starting a business was scary stuff for her.

To my surprise and joy, two days later Bianca said she was ready for the challenge so the paperwork was done and she joined the Directorship team!

Fast forward to our first year anniversary in what had become a very successful business. Bianca had championed setting up a complex database for shiny things (accepting two days after the idea was put forward), done a Director's course (enrolling after two days deliberation), and taken up the opportunity to be part of another start-up company providing innovative services in the disability sector with me and another Director (again, committing after two days contemplation), .

In November 2021 another business opportunity arose out of the changing business environment. With a smile on my face I knew that Bianca would again meet my adventurous thoughts with trepidation and the statement, "give me two days". So this time we spent her two days making our thoughts into an experience, and decided on a name...

Raven (right) was brought up surrounded by the small business opportunities her parents took on as she grew up in South Australia. In the past 25 years, her roles have included sole trader, private company Director. Executive Director, Public Officer, and Secretary for small to medium enterprises in SA and WA within the private inquiry, health, and disability sectors.

An experienced mentor, Raven enjoys the potential and creativity offered by untapped places in business.

Bianca (left) is a Kiwi who made Australia home in 2011. With lots of life-experience from a variety of occupations, she was working in disability services when an injury sidelined that career in 2019. By November 2021 she had set up a database, learned two accounting packages, and was Executive Director of three different companies.
